NT 92 NE AKELD AKELD
8/8 Range of farmbuildings c.30 yards west of Akeld Manor GV II
Range of cartsheds and stables. Of 2 builds. Late C18 and early C19. Random rubble with ashlar dressings and roof of large Lakeland slates.
2 storeys on right, becoming single-storey with lie of land.
Older section to right has lighter horizontal tooling to raised stone surrounds. On right 4 round-headed arches to cart sheds - 2 now blocked and with early C19 boarded doors and ½-shuttered windows. Stable left of this with 2-leaf boarded door. 6 small windows to granary over.
Left of this a higher round-headed carriage arch, now partly blocked with C19 door.
4 stables to left have doors and ½-slatted windows with early C19 tooled-and- margined surrounds.
