Details
STANNINGTON BLAGDON NZ 2177 13/83 North Lodge and 27.8.52 attached wall to south GV II Gate Lodge and attached wall. 1887, by Lish. Squared rubble with ashlar dressings; Scots slate roof. T-plan. Eclectic, loosely Baroque, style. East elevation 2 storeys, 2 bays with single-storey flat-roofed bay to far right. Moulded plinth, friezes and cornices at 1st floor and eaves levels, angle pilasters. Canted ground-floor bay, windows in raised panels carried up as hipped half dormers. Hipped roof with pair of transverse stacks linked by arch across ridge. Right return shows distyle-in-antis porch with pedimented half dormer above, flanked by panels with initials M.W.R. and date. Much elaborate detail including panels with bucrania and many draped urn finials. Attached panelled screen wall to left with moulded plinth, frieze and cornice; blocked gateway to far left has piers carrying ball finials. Attached entrance screen (q.v.) to right.
