House. C18 extended early C19 and remodelled 1824 for I.M. Bates, C18 dressed stone on right, ashlar elsewhere. Welsh slate roof. Classical style. Two storeys, 5 bays. Former central doorway, now a window, has full-length 12-pane sash in Tuscan entablature. Flanking bays, including present door to left, have plain reveals and semicircular pediments on stone brackets. Four-pane sashes in plain reveals in outer bays. 12-pane sashes on 1st floor. Plain frieze, cornice and blocking course of 1824. Roof hipped on left with ridge and end stacks.

On left return a 2-storey square tower with 4-pane sash on ground floor; round- headed window on 1st floor has radiating glazing bars and dated keystone.

Interior: mainly of 1820-30. Hall has coffered ceiling and Greek-style fireplace with battered jambs, pedimented lintel with acroteria on the corners. Drawing room has coffered ceiling with Greek-key design on the borders. Imposing cantilevered open-well stair with ramped and wreathed handrail and hexagonal-plan balusters. 6-panel doors and shutters; many early C19 fireplaces.
