GV II*

House. Early C18. Ashlar with stone slate roof. L-plan. Two and a half storeys, 7 bays. Rusticated quoins. Early C18 door with decorative lower panels, and Gibbs' surround with cornice, in 2nd bay. Similar surround to window in 6th bay to maintain symmetry. Narrow 8-pane sashes in raised moulded surrounds. Steeply-pitched gabled roof with corniced end stack on right and quadripartite corniced ridge stack. Left end stack has been removed. Flat coping and renewed kneelers.

Venetian stair window on left return with Tuscan columns and thick glazing bars.

Interior: fine open-well stair with carved treadends, thick turned balusters, wreathed and ramped handrail and fluted newels. Half landing has inlaid marquetry sunburst. On 1st floor landing, in place of balusters a large Baroque openwork panel. Back stair from 1st to 2nd floor has more slender turned balusters also early C18. Drawing room has early C18 fielded panelling with dado rail and dentil cornice; the entrance has panelling with simulated rustication and niche with shaped shelves. Two-panel doors throughout. Front door has C18 brass lock with cherubs in the corners.
