11/81 The Old School House
GV II
Formerly school and schoolmaster's house, now house. Said to be 1841, though dated 1829 on beam inside. For Sir Charles Monck. Ashlar with Welsh slate roof. 2-storey, 2-bay arcaded front block with single-storey former schoolroom to rear.
Arcade has wide elliptical arch to left and narrow round-headed arch to right. Within arcade is an original large tripartite, multi-paned sash window. On 1st floor 3 Yorkshire sashes. Cross-gabled, shallow-pitched roof with small square end stacks.
Right return has the narrow end arch of the arcade on the left with a wide elliptical arch to right, now filled with C20 wood boarding and small-paned casement.
Former schoolroom 1 tall storey with three C20 small-paned casements.
