NETHERWITTON NETHERWITTON NZ 1090 17/143 Stable range north-east of Netherwitton Hall 6.5.52 (Formerly listed with Nether Witton Hall as stabling) GV II Stable Range, late C17. Squared stone with dressings, slate roof. 2 storeys, 10 bays. Left section 5 bays, formerly symmetrical; central double doors under flattened Tudor arch in square moulded frame, with raised roundel enclosing blank shield above, mounting block to right. Bay has stable door with 4-pane overlight, bay 5 a boarded door with 8-pane overlight, both enlargements of original windows. Right section of slightly later date, 5 bays; double doors in matching surround in bay 9, similar doorway at 1st floor level in bay 8, now blocked; bay 7 has stable door with 4-pane overlight, bay 10 stable door, both enlargements of original windows. Both sections have windows of various types in raised and chamfered stone surrounds, some blocked. Left return shows lst- floor boarded door in flat-pointed chamfered surround; right return, 2 chamfered windows to attic. Rear elevation: right section shows 4 square 1st floor windows in chamfered surrounds, one enlarged into doorway.
