NY 65 SE KNARESDALE WITH KIRKHAUGH KNARSDALE
12/156 Outbuilding 20 metres south-west of Knarsdale Hall Farmhouse GV II
Former offices and lodgings to Hall, now agricultural store. C17. Rubble with stone dressings, stone slate roof. Built on steep slope, 2 storeys to west, single storey to east. West front has section to left, former cottage, with chamfered doorway and 2 2-light chamfered mullioned windows over; to right 2 ground-floor offices, each with a 2-light chamfered mullioned window and a door; right doorway with chamfered surround, left with moulded surround and moulded dripstone. 1st floor slit vents; 2 later buttresses. Stone gable stack. Rear left barn has cart entrance, with tooled and margined jambs and C20 timber lintel, flanked by slit vents. Interior of barn shows original principal-rafter roof truss with notched collar and 2 altered trusses; 2 levels of purlins but no ridge piece.
