GV II
House; several C18 building phases with earlier work incorporated. Coursed roughly-squared stone with cut quoins and dressings; stone slate roofs except for C20 grey tiles on south of north-west wing; 4 out of 5 stacks rebuilt in brick, some rendered. Irregular plan.
South elevation in 2 sections: right part 3 storeys, 2 bays and a wide 2-storey right bay. Left part has 8-pane sashes and left end stack. Wide right bay has altered panelled door in alternating-block surround, to left of 16-pane sash windows; and stone right end stack.
Set back left wing 3 storeys, 1 bay. Blocked doorway, 12-pane sashes to upper floors, left end stack. All sashes renewed, all gables with raised reverse- stepped coping.
Return shows gabled stair wing, with 12-pane Yorkshire sash, rising behind outshut of main wing; to right, single-storey kitchen with boarded door, 4-pane sash and right end stack heightened in brick.
Interior: open-well open-string stair with stick balusters and ramped moulded handrail (upper part reconstructed with old materials). Flush-panelled and 2-panel doors with H and L hinges; 1st floor fireplace with moulded stone surround.
A section of 1-metre thick wall on the west is probably part of an earlier house, the sequential rebuilding of which would explain the complex plan.
