HAILSHAM MAGHAM DOWN 1. 5208 Amberstone Grange (formerly listed as TQ 61 SW 13/467 30.8.66 Amberstone Farm)

2. 1790 circa. Two storeys and attic. Three windows. Three dormers. Faced with black mathematical tiles. flipped tiled roof. Two large stuccoed bays on ground and both floors have been added in C19. Glazing bars missing. Round-headed doorway with Doric pilasters, pediment, semi-circular fanlight and door of 6 fielded panels, over which a stuccoed porch has been added in C19. On 26 June 1814 Samuel Rickman, the then occupant of the home, entertained the Tsar Alexander I of Russia and King Frederick William III of Prussia here on their journey from Portsmouth to Dover at the conclusion of their visit to the Prince Regent.
