Square stone plinth erected by Francis Newbery of Heathfield Park between
1791 and 1819 with a tablet on it recording that Jack Cade was killed by
Alexander Iden, Sheriff of Kent, in 1450 "near this spot", but the identity
of the spot has been disputed.
