25.2.52 No No 142 (The Corner House) and railings to south
GV II
House, at one time an ale house. Circa 1600, refronted in early C18 and stuccoed in early C19. Timber-framed and stuccoed with coped parapet to plain tiled roof with end stacks, one stack behind ridge to right and two flat- headed dormers, one in centre and one to right. 2 storeys and attics; regular 4 window front, slightly shifted to right, margin-light sashes with wide painted surrounds. Panelled door in second bay from left with transom- light, Doric-pilastered surround and deep entablature hood. Interior: one jowled post exposed in stair-well, cast-iron railings surrounding enclosures to south, either side of door; arrow-head railings with vase-head standards.
