SU 9743 NW GODALMING WHARF STREET (west side) 13/217 No 6 (Caswall House) 23.2.70 (formerly listed as No 2) GV II
House, now commercial premises. Early C18, with early-mid C19 and later altera- tions. Painted brick; plain tile roof. 2 storeys with attic, 2 bays, with single-storey outshut to rear left and taller block to rear of centre and right bays. Full-height pilaster at right end. Step up to central entrance which has recessed C19 door under overlight with geometric decorative glazing bars, the door and reveals having raised and fielded panels; doorcase has wooden architrave with pilasters, console-bracketed dentil cornice and pediment. Windows are C20 16-pane sashes under segmental brick arches, paired (under single arch) on ground floor. Parapet with flat stone coping. Roof hipped at right end and with flat-roofed 3-light casement dormer on right. Rear: catslide roof to outshut; the left-hand block has steeply-pitched gable to left bay, the roof coming down at a less steep pitch over lower right-hand bay and the right return of this having another steeply-pitched gable above an attic window.
