Details
GODALMING HAMBLEDON ROAD SU 9742 (north-east side), 16/41 Busbridge South gateway and overthrow to Church of St John the Baptist GV II
Gateway with gates and overthrow. Probably c.1867 as church (q.v. item 16/37). Wooden gates and posts, wrought-iron overthrow. Gate posts: square on plan; leaded, gabled tops with triangular and cusped decoration, 2-leaf gates: the leafs of 2 sections with open, cusped-headed panels; decorative iron straps; chamfered internal edges; triangular-moulded top rail. Overthrow: arched with central lantern; scroll corner finials; boss pendant; spiral-finialled scroll- work to either side. Matches north gateway (q.v. item 16/38).
