GODALMING ASHSTEAD LANE SU 9642 SE 17/6 (south side, off) Garage and maisonette block at Ladywell Convent II

Garage and 2 cottages. 1910 by Sir Guy Dawber for Major-General D A Scott. Bargate rubblestone with brick dressings, and weatherboard. Plain tile roofs. 1 storey with attic, 4 bays, with former courtyard at rear and weatherboarded garage wing to rear left; later C20 additions at rear and roof over courtyard not of special interest. 2nd bay has wide archway through to rear courtyard with recessed board doors, that on left with inset pedestrian door, the side walls canted at front and with doorways to cottages. 3-light double-chamfered mullion windows with leaded lights. Wooden rainwater pipes. Oversailing eaves. Three 2-light leaded dormers with swept hipped roofs. Tall central tile-hung belfry with wood-latticed bell stage and swept leaded roof with lucarnes and weather vane with initials 'DAS'. Corniced external end stacks, that on right with coupled, diagonally-set flues. Rear: on right, gable of weatherboarded wing has loading door.
