CORBRIDGE WHITE HOUSE NZ 06 NW 6/211 White House Farmhouse
GV II
C House; door surround dated 1684 withinitials I M (John and Mary Cook); early C19 north wing, altered c.1950. Rubble, rendered and whitewashed, with dressings; stone slate roof. C17 house T-plan with outshut on west of rear wing.
South elevation 2 storeys, 3 bays. Left-of-centre renewed door in heavily- moulded surround. 2-light window above and 3-light windows in side bays;window surrounds, and mullions of 3-light windows, of raised rounded section. Good sundial with re-cut 1702 date, above door. Coped gables with moulded kneelers, stepped end stacks.
Left return shows chamfered window to attic. Right return shows similar 1st floor and attic windows; set back to right 2-storey 2-bay rear wing has central flush-panelled door in slightly-projecting gabled porch, with 2-light windows similar to those on south front to left and renewed 16-pane sashes in stone surrounds to right.
Interior shows contemporary fireplace and doorway to rear wing, both with moulded surrounds; old ceiling beams.
