19/156 George Stephenson's s Cottage 15/4/69 II*
House. C18. Random rubble partly rendered. Pantile above stone slate roof. Central plank door. Flanking 12-pane Yorkshire sashes. Small 6-pane window above door. Continuous outshut to rear has C20 windows. Steeply-pitched gabled roof edged by stone slates. Thin raised coping and 2 rebuilt brick end stacks.
Plaque on front wall records birth here of George Stephenson on June 9th 1781.
