GV II
House 1796 enlarged later C19 and 1928. Tooled and margined ashlar; slate roof, ashlar stepped gable stacks. Rectangular main block flanked by 2-storey porches of 1928, rear wing to right probably contemporary with main block, rear wing to left later C19, the two rear wings joined by a wing of 1928 to enclose a rectangular courtyard.
Front elevation 2 storeys, 3 windows with set-back 2-storey side porches, ground and 1st floor sill bands. 3 semicircular steps to central 6-panel door within plain doorcase under broad radial fanlight, the whole enclosed in an elliptical- arched recess with alternating raised jambs. 16 pane sashes in raised surrounds. Porches each have segmental-headed arch with 12-pane sash above and 2 segmental- headed arches in each return. Set further back, at either side, the gables of the rear wings have 12- and 16-pane sashes, some replaced. Right return has various sash windows with glazing bars, including a canted oriel. Left return has square 2-storey bay and archway into courtyard. Rear elevation of main block has central round-headed stair window with Y-tracery and alternating raised voussoirs, flanked at 1st floor level by 16-pane sashes. Interior has one good late C18 marble fireplace and curving late C18 stair. 6-panel doors and panelled shutters through- out.
