EAST RETFORD
BABWORTH PARK DRIVE (west side)
Swiss Cottages, Babworth Park
II
House, formerly two cottages. Late C18. Probably by Repton. Red brick with uncut timber cladding simulating a log cabin. Slate roof with deep overhang at the eaves. Single central red brick ridge stack. Single storey plus garret. Three bays. The front and rear both having a single projecting bay at opposite corners. Doorway with wooden door. To the right is a single glazing bar Yorkshire sash, to the left, in the projecting bay, is a single four-light glazing bar casement. The left gable with projecting roof supported on wooden brackets and plain bargeboard has a balcony with carved wooden panels and fascia supported on three wooden posts. There are two large glazing bar fixed lights. Above is a doorway with wooden door and to the right a single four-light glazing bar casement and a further single similar single light glazing bar casement. The rear has a doorway with wooden door. To the right is a single two-light glazing bar casement and to the left, in the projecting bay, a single three-light glazing bar fixed light. To the left are single storey brick and slate extensions.
Interior: some ground floor rooms have timber beams.
