GREENHEAD B 6318 NY 76 NW (North side, off) Great Chesters 12/75 Great Chesters Farmhouse II

Farmhouse. Early-mid C18 with mid C19 additions. Coursed rubble, rendered on front; purple slate roof and stone chimneys. Original 3-storey, 2-bay main block with C19 2-storey, one-bay addition on right. C19 gabled stone porch with boarded door and 4-pane overlight at junction between builds. Main block: 4-pane sashes in C19 openings on ground floor; 2 replaced sashes in raised surrounds on first floor; central horizontal window in raised surround immediately below eaves. Roof has coped gables and shaped kneelers. End stacks with top ledges and water tables. Slightly lower addition has 4-pane sashes on each floor. Roof, with lower eaves and ridge, has coped right gable. Right end stack with top band. C19 2-storey outshut and gabled porch on rear of main block. Interior: roof of main block has 2 pairs of upper crucks with collars; crucks carry 2 rows of adzed purlins and are crossed at ridge piece. Single- storey farmbuilding on left return is not of special interest.
