Details

GONALSTON EPPERSTONE ROAD SK 64 NE (west side) 4/56 Manor Cottages, Nos. 1 and 2 G.V. II Pair of cottages, probably formerly single house and outbuilding. Mid C17 timber frame with early C19 brick cladding. Pantiles to the higher wing and plain tiles to the lower wing which is on the right. 2 red brick and render stacks to the gables of the higher wing. The right stack being external. Single storey plus attic, 5 bays. Having from left to right a single tripartite C20 glazing bar casement, a gabled brick, lattice and plain tile porch with inner plank door, a single tripartite casement under a segmental arch, a doorway with panelled door and in the lower wing a single C20 tripartite glazing bar casement. Above, in the higher wing, are 2 brick, pantile and render gabled dormers each with single glazing bar casement. In the lower wing is a single small glazing bar casement. To the left is a brick and pantile lean-to with doorway with plank door. To the rear of the higher wing is a C20 2 storey single bay extension and a single storey C20 extension to the lower wing. Interior. Visible timbers include wall plates and single post. On the first floor is a stud partition.
