Details

CROPWELL BUTLER BACK LANE SK63NE (east side, north end) 1/34 The Court, including 25.9.79 stable wing and dovecote - II Large detached house. Early to mid C19, the stable wing early C20. Stucco, stone plinth. Hipped slate roof with paired wooden brackets supporting the oversailing eaves. Lateral stacks. Rectangular plan with wings to rear (north) to the east of which is attached the stable wing. Two storeys. 4 bays plus a 2 storey 3-light canted bay to right. Off-centre French window, with three glazing bar sashes to left in a single storey canted bay. To the right a single glazing bar sash, then another canted bay, with central double sashes. Similar but shorter sashes to 1st floor. The 2-bay left return has a heavy stone pilastered doorcase. Blind right bay. Two-storey hipped, parallel range to rear with parapet to its right side. Three gabled wings at 90° to this. The stable wing has a tall central round arched entrance with stable door and fanlight. Loading door above with hipped dormer roof. Small square flanking windows. Octagonal domed dovecote/cupola with weather vane.
