SK 57 SE CUCKNEY LANGWITH ROAD (North side)
8/55 Cuckney House 31.11.66 G.V. II
House. Early C18, altered and refaced late C18 and late C19. Dressed coursed rubble and ashlar. Hipped slate roof. 2 ashlar stacks. A parapet with cornice hides the roof line. Set on a plinth. 2 storeys plus attic, 5 bays. Central C19 doorway with panelled door and segmental overlight, flanked by single half columns supporting a moulded arched band over. All set into a recessed stone surround. Either side are 2 sashes with 5 similar sashes above. All with keystones. There is a single, central, box dormer with sash. The south side has a pair of bay windows. That on the left having a single sash and on the right 2 sashes. Above is a single large central, arched, glazing bar casement, flanked by single sashes. Breaking into the eaves is a dormer with 2 small sashes. The west and north sides have later C19 extensions. Interior has C18 quarter turn staircase with carved tread ends and turned balusters. There are 2 carved marble fireplaces. The hall has some panelling. There are some panelled doors.
