Details
HOOK NORTON SP33NE 2/1 Belleisle Farmhouse; barn 08/12/55 approx 25 metres south - II Barn. C18 Datestone on west extension illegible but noted as 1775. Datestone on east gable noted as 1776. Ironstone rubble with limestone quoins, ironstone copings and C20 roof. 3 bays with central threshing floor. North porch has hipped roof. Interior: roof timbers at east end renewed. Principal rafter roof has butt purlins, collars and tie beams. Thick walls lined with brick. Datestone in an ornamental wreath on east gable attributed to A(ppletre) N(athanial) A(ustin). Datestone on west gable to extension on right has boldly carved fleur-de-lys, possibly the crest of Austin. (Dickins M. - History of Hook Norton, 1928, pp 90-1, p119).
