Details
SP4631 DEDDINGTON NEW STREET + (West side) 8/221 Lorien and Folly Cottage
GV II 2 small houses. Early C18. Coursed marlstone rubble with wooden lintels; Stonesfield-slate roof with brick stacks. One- and 2-unit plans. 2 storeys. Bay one of 3-window front has a 2-light casement with chamfered lintel to each floor, to right of which is the entrance to Lorien. Folly Cottage, with its entrance between bays 2 and 3, has 3-light windows at first floor and 2-light windows below, including an additional window to extreme right probably replacing a doorway; all have renewed leaded casements and C20 lintels. Steep-pitched roof has stacks to both gables and to left of bay 2. Interior not inspected. Probably formerly single-unit cottages, but possibly originally a 3-unit house. Included for group value.
