SP4635 ADDERBURY TANNERS LANE (North side) Adderbury West 6/104 The Old House

II House. Mid C17, altered probably C18. Coursed squared marlstone with some ashlar dressings and some wooden lintels; Welsh-slate roof with brick gable stacks. 3-unit plan with rear wing. 2 storeys plus attic and 2 storeys. 2 bays to left of 3-window front are higher, possibly raised in C18, and have stone-mullioned ground-floor windows of 4 and 3 lights, both with labels, flanking a later doorway and a small C20 ashlar oculus; the left window was originally at a slightly higher level above two 2-light stone-mullioned cellar windows, but these have now been blocked and the sill of the window above lowered. First floor and lower bay to right have C20 casements. To extreme right of higher section is a small inglenook window. Rear retains a small 2-light wood-mullioned window. Rear wing returns from left. Interior: large inglenook fireplace with cambered bressumer and C17 panelled salt cupboard; altered large open fireplace with stop-chamfered bressumer and bread oven; stop-chamfered beams.
