60SFORD AND WATER EATON WATER EATON SP51SW 6/48 North-pavilion and attached 07/12/66 walls approx. 40m. NE of the Manorhouse (Formerly listed as Manor House, detached wings with the wall and gatepieces (sic) between) GV II Pavilion or guesthouse and walls. Early C17. Coursed squared limestone with ashlar dressings; Stonesfield-slate roof with stone gable stack. Single range. 2 storeys plus attic . Gable end facing court has a chamfered depressed-arched stone doorway, 2 small stair windows and a large 4-light stone-mullioned window in the gable below a sundial. Side facing chapel garden has three 3-light mullioned windows at first floor. Side facing away from the Manorhouse (q.v.) now has large garage doors but retains three 3-light windows at first floor, plus a single-light window and a square-headed moulded stone doorway at ground floor. Outer gable end has further small windows, plus a projecting chimney which may be an addition. All windows have hollow-chamfered mullions, labels and leaded glazing. Gable parapets have projecting moulded kneelers and obelisk finials. Interior not inspected. Wall extending towards house is approximately 2 metres high with a tapering rubble coping, and it includes a 4-centre arched stone doorway, with recessed spandrels, leading to the chapel (q.v.). Wall extending to gatepier (q.v.) is approximately 1.5 metres high and has lost its coping. One of a fine group of buildings. (Buildings of England: Oxfordshire, p.825; H.
