GREAT HASELEY THAME R0A0 SP60SW (East side) 5/85 Outbuilding attached to The 18/07/63 Stables (Formerly listed as Manor Stables)

GV II

Outbuilding. C18, possibly partly earlier. Limestone rubble and ashlar quoins; old plain-tile roof. Square plan. 2 storeys. Walls have brick dentil eaves course and stone flat arches. Entrance to left of centre and one small window at first floor in return wall. C20 openings at rear. Pyramidal roof with louvre. To left, C20 weatherboarded link to The Stables (q.v.); to right, wall to east of the Manor House (q.v.). Interior: Plastered walls. First floor (reached by a stair) is supported by iron ties from 2 parallel roof trusses of exceptionally heavy pine construction flanking a central space of unknown function. The building may be a C18 conversion of the dovecote shown on an estate map of 1701 by the cartographer Joel Gascoyne.
