DORCHESTER HIGH STREET SU5794 (East side) 5/72 Cranmer Cottage and attached 09/11/76 outbuilding

House. Early/mid C18. Brick, in Flemish bond with flared headers, on a clunch rubble plinth with stepped brick weathering; old plain-tile roof with brick ridge stack. Double-depth lobby-entry plan. 2 storeys plus attics. 3-window front, with storey band, has, to right of centre, a plank door, with canopy on shaped brackets, between 16-pane sashes under segmental arches. At first floor 16-pane sashes flank a narrow 8-pane sash. Roof has large stack in line with entrance. Left gable wall, facing road, has 2 segmental-arched sashes and a gable casement. Pebbledashed rear wall has further casements. Roof to lower rear section has 3 parallel hipped spans. Interior not inspected. Attached to the right side, by a C20 porch, is a small contemporary rubble outbuilding with brick quoins and an old plain-tile roof.
