DORCHESTER HIGH STREET SU5794 (West side) 5/85 No.39 18/07/63 (Formerly listed as Icknield (Two Cottages))

GV II

House. Late medieval, remodelled and extended early C18. Rendered timber framing; old plain-tile roof with brick ridge stack. 2-unit lobby-entry plan with rear wing. 2 storeys. 2-window front has plank door, with C20 canopy on shaped brackets, a 12-pane sash, to left, and a tripartite sash, to right; at first floor are leaded casements of 2 and 3 lights. Hipped-roofed rear wing has further leaded casements. Interior: back-to-back open fireplaces; windbraces of lower medieval roof. Noted as originally 2 of a row of 3 medieval tenements. (M.
