MILTON HIGH STREET SU4892 (West side) 8/159 Stables and coach house approx. 60m NE of Milton Manor House
GV II Stable and coach house. c.1764 by Stephen Wright for Bryant Barrett. Red brick; old plain-tile hipped roof with lead ridges and cross-roofs to coach houses. Single storey and attic; 7-bay range with coach house pavillions to each end. Central round-arched recessed porch with plank doors to each internal face. Cast-iron cross-windows with cast-iron decorative glazing bars. Plank double doors to coach houses. Brick dentil cornice to eaves and pediment-gables and 2-light wood casements. Interior: wooden horse stalls to left. Cast-iron horse stalls to right made by St. Pancras Iron-works. History; forms part of the additions and alterations made by Bryant Barrett after buying Milton Manor. (Buildings of England: Berkshire: 1975, p178-9; Milton Manor; Oxfordshire: by S.
