APPLETON WITH EATON NETHERTON ROAD SP4401 (North side) Appleton 9/22 Barn, stable and attached wall S approx. 25m NE of Appleton House

GV II

Barn, now store and garage. Early C18. C20 weatherboarding over timber frame on limestone rubble plinth. Gabled thatch roof. 3-bay plan with central threshing floor. C20 double doors. Interior: 3-bay collar-truss roof with butt purlins, and braced posts with moulded soffits to jowls. Subsidiary features: remodelled stone stable to right is attached to high wall of limestone rubble with flat brick coping, which extends for 17m. to gateway adjoining similar wall attached to Appleton House (q.v.). Similar wall approx. 5m. long attached to outbuilding approximately 40 metres north of Appleton House (q.v.), to right. Included for group value.
