GV II

House. Mid C18, remodelled and extended to rear early/mid C19. Flemish bond brick, mid C18 random bond brick to left side wall and flared headers to right side wall; old tile roof; brick stacks. Double-depth plan. 2 storeys and attic; 3-window range. Early C19 reeded architrave to door of 3 panels with top panel (glazed); porch of c.1965. Soldier arches and coved C18 cornice over mid C19 three-light transomed windows with cusped heads; mid C18 gabled dormer with 2-light leaded casement. Roof gabled to left, half-hipped to right; gable end left stack, ridge stack. Early C19 rear has gauged brick cambered arches over horned sashes flanking French window with bordered lights and shutters and glazed door with overlight; wrought iron verandah and balcony to first-floor windows. Interior: C18 six-panelled doors. Hall has mid C18 Doric entablatures to broken pediments over doors and early C19 straight-run stairs with wreathed handrail. Early C19 fireplaces and cornices, blocked doorway to centre of right side wall has mid C18 china closet in adjoining wall. Similar pedimented doorway and mid C18 fireplace with shouldered architrave to first floor. Winder stairs to attic which has mid C18 round-headed panelled cupboard door and common-rafter roof. Subsidiary features: Mid C18 wall, attached to rear right and flanking lane, is of random bond brick, divided by pilaster buttresses into 10 panels each with stepped plinth and dogtooth cornice beneath tiled coping.
