House, now museum Centre. C17, remodelled c.1780 by Lawrence Hazell (datestone over first-floor window). Originally timber-framed with square timber framing and wattle and daub infill to side and rear right. Flemish bond brick with flared headers; old tile roof; brick stack. Original 3-unit lobby-entry plan. 2 storeys; 4-window range. Late C19 gabled porch, timber-framed with herringbone brick infill; door blocked, present entry in C20 extension to left; 2-light leaded window in left side wall. Gauged brick flat arches over late C18 sashes and 3 mid C19 horned sashes to left. Half-hipped roof; ridge stack. C20 extensions to left and rear. Interior: Room to right has chamfered and stopped beam, original joists, chamfered bressumer over chalk open fireplace; collar-truss with clasped purlins to right.
