Details
BUCKLAND SU3497 8/29 Westbrook Cottage GV II
House. Early C18, remodelled c.1880. Coursed limestone rubble; Welsh slate roof; brick stacks. 3-unit lobby-entry plan. One storey and attic, bay to left heightened to 2 storeys c.1880; 3-window range. Late C19 four-panelled (2 glazed) door set in late C19 gabled brick porch. C20 timber lintels over inserted door to right and flanking C20 three-light casements; 2 late C19 dormers over, with late C19 two- and 3-light casements. Bay to left has timber lintels over horned sash, and one-light window and flat stone arch over C20 three-light casement. Gabled roof; 2 gable end stacks and ridge stack. Interior: Chamfered bressumer over open fireplace to left of central room, which was originally 2 rooms and retains axial chamfered beam. Full set of chamfered and stopped beams and joists and chamfered bressumer over open fireplace to left. Collar-truss roof.
