Details
1. WATCHFIELD HIGHWORTH ROAD Westmill Farmhouse SU 29 SW 1/79
II 2. C17 core with a circa 1820 addition of rubble stone cement rendered and incised to resemble stonework with a gabled slate roof and one end and one ridge stack. L shaped plan with C17 section on a N/S axis and the 1820 addition to the W. N front of 2 storeys and 5 bays. The C17 section has 2 clapboarded gabled dormers and 3 light sashes. The Cl9 addition has 6 x3pane sashes to the upper windows and 6 pane sashes to the ground floor. Centrally placed 6 panel door sheltered by a cement rendered and gabled slate roofed porch. Inside, the drawing room in the C17 section has 2 stopped and chamfered beams, an enormous chamfered stone jamb to an inglenook fireplace and 2 light mullioned windows with cavetto mouldings on the original rear wall now made internal by later outshuts. The circa 1820 addition has an elegant cantilevered staircase of the period with carved tread-ends.
