Details

MATLASKE BARNINGHAM TG 13 NW 3/70 Old Rectory II House, formerly Rectory, c1830. Brick, pantile roof. L-shaped with double wing to rear. 2-storeyed symmetrical front range of 3 gabled bays each breaking forward. Central door and fanlight under rendered 4-centred arch and hood mould. Casement windows with mullions and transoms under square hood moulds, those to ground floor of 4 lights, those to first floor of 3 lights; 2-light window over door. Internal gable end stacks project slightly. Ostentatious octagonal chimney shafts with oversailing star caps: two each on end stacks, one central axial shaft, 2 each at rear of first and third bay, one at gable end of rear wing to east (shaft to gable end of rear wing to west removed), 2 to gable end of extension to rear wing, east. Garden front, east, of rear wing: 2 bays, 2 storeys; pebble flint and brick, mosaic, brick cornice, pantiles; glazed door to left, C20 steel framed casements. 2 bay extension of wing to north in brick under pantiles; ground floor casement windows under segmental heads; 3-light casement with transom to 2nd bay of first floor under gable. Rear wing to west in pebble flint and brick mosaic. Attached coach house with loft over and stable block with original stalls to north.
