TF 83 SE SCULTHORPE CRANMER PARK 5/128 Cranmer Hall 30.11.51 II*
House. c1721. Red brick, slated roof, 7 bay facade, originally of 3 storeys reduced to 2. Central pedimented 3 bays with doubled rusticated brick quoins, 2 outer bays with single rusticated quoins. Six ground and 7 first floor sashes with glazing bars under flat rubbed brick arches. Later C18 Roman Doric wooden doorcase with pilasters, entablature and pediment and arch headed 8-panelled raised and fielded door. Lead down pipes with gilded crests. Stone parapets and early C19 stone coat of arms to pediment. To north 2 bay return and single bay north wing with rusticated quoins. To south 2 storey later C18 3 sided bay with sashes with glazing bars. To west 2 storey 3 bay wing in C17 classical brick style attributed to Philip Webb c1880. At rere re-used wooden doorcase with fluted Ionic half-columns and swan neck open pediment. Interior with central 3 bay hall with plaster dado and panels with lugged corners. Four 6-panelled raised and fielded doors in lugged architraves. Central 8 panelled arched headed door on axis with entrance with arched pilaster frame. Stone fire surround with lugged corners. To south 3-bay room with wooden frieze and modillions. To north of hall panelled room with simpler details. To west well-staircase with panelled dado, neo -C17 by Philip Webb. First floor 3 bay room at south repeats some ground floor details in chimney breast and cornice. A re-used Palladian wooden fire surround and over-mantle to upper landing.
