2/1 Brumstead Hall
G.V. II
Farmhouse. Originally C15 hall house, early C19 facade, altered C20. Flint
and brick with brick facade. Slate roof. Facade of 2 storeys in 3 irregular
bays reflecting disposition of C15 plan. C20 pedimented doorcase and door
to right of centre. Fenestration of sashes and casements, 2 of which are
early C19. Timber eaves cornice with double modillions. Gabled roof. Ridge
stack to right of door and north internal gable end stack. Rear elevation
of coursed knapped flint and brick detailing. Opposing entrance behind C20
pedimented doorcase. Scattered fenestration comprising mixture of C18, C19
and C20 casements and sashes. Outshut against north gable wall encloses C15
brick external solar staircase, now blocked. North wall of outshut with
blocked 6-light timber mullioned C16 window. Interior greatly altered. One
large arched brace of hall rises to first floor and is now enclosed in later
partitions. One jewel stopped bridging beam to first floor.
