5/49 Model Farm Buildings to West of Model Farmhouse
G.V. II Model farm complex. 1852-3 by G A Dean. Buildings arranged around three sides of a courtyard open to the N side. Gault brick with limestone dressings and slate roofs. Single storey ranges with two storey corner and central blocks. Central steaming house in south range of three bays, central bay slightly advanced and pedimented. Large door openings with semi-circular arched heads with key stones. Moulded string courses. Rusticated brick quoins. Modillion eaves and verges. Central lantern vent with hipped lead roof surmounted by iron weather vane. Iron grilles in each face of lantern, Corner blocks with hipped slate roofs with carved and turned timber finials. One storey ranges with brick, dentil eaves courses and openings with gauged brick arches. Eastern range of horse boxed, stalls, etc. has central pedimented porch, two chimney stacks and two louvred vents on ridge line. Vents have lead covered pyramidal roofs supported on console brackets. Courtyard contains central block of pig and calf sheds with yards and shelters to E and W.
