Details
TROWSE WITH NEWTON WHITLINGHAM LANE TG 20 NE (south side) 2/104 Ruins of Trowse Newton Hall 2/10/51 II Ruins of country house of Priors of Norwich, later of the Deans after dissolution, later a farmhouse. Mid C15, demolished C.1860. Flint and brick with ashlar dressings. No roof. Rectangular north range survives to first floor level with stretch of north wall revealing coursed flint and brick chequerwork style. Jambs of stone 4-centred window remain to east side of north wall with fragments of Perpendicular tracery. Further west is a 4-centred hollow and wave moulded doorway. West return of this range has 2 4-light window embrasures. Doorway to south return. Here and there patches of masonry can be discurned leading south to main-entrance. Large 4-centred ashlar doorway with double chamfered jambs and multiply wave moulded arch.
