II

Cottage, C16 renewed C17; colourwashed brick, pantiles. 3 cells, single storey and attic. Timber frame walls replaced by brick C17, walls battered, floor inserted C17. Facade to east: off-centre axial stack to right; varied renewed, blocked and inserted fenestration. 2 raking roof dormers. South return to left in tar-washed brick, inserted opening to attic and to ground floor; return to north to right with plinth, 3 and 2-light casements. Rear to west with forward addition to right; 2 C20 3-light casements, 1 raking dormer. Interior: large inserted stack in later brick; fireplace to central cell with ¼ mouldings to bressumer and bridging beam, additional stack added in north cell. Many ceiling timbers renewed but some lamb's tongue stops. Attic with thin gable walls above tie beams; 5 bay roof with 14cm tenoned butt purlins and principal rafters; interior ties removed but c.50cm of tie protruding either side to north bay.
