GILLINGHAM YARMOUTH ROAD TM 49 SW 8/65 Hill Farmhouse
- II
Farmhouse. C18 but with earlier core. Colourwashed brick, roof of smut and black glazed pantiles. Two storeys and attics with 1 1/2 storey wing to rear; L-shaped plan. Asymmetrical facade to south with off centre gabled stair turret opposite large axial red brick chimney stack. Sash windows with glazing bars and architraves. Bays arranged 2:1:2:1. Two ground floor tripartite sashes to east of stair turret, doorway between window openings. Blind first floor window opening above door. Plain brick pilaster to east of doorway, dividing end bay, and denoting change of builds. Sawtooth brick eaves course. Parapeted gables; internal chimney stack at east end. Two gabled attic dormers with C20 casements. Attic 2-light casement in east gable. Lower wing at north-east corner, rendered and colourwashed, possibly over timber frame; two 3 light casements. North gable has 3-light first floor casement with glazing bars and 3-light ground floor slatted vent. Catslide on east side with gabled attic dormer. North side of main range has two storey gabled projection corresponding to stair turret on south; sashes with glazing bars, two blocked first floor openings.
