TOFT MONKS MAYPOLE GREEN TM 49 NW 3/95 Toft Monks Priory 25-9-51 - II

House, C17 and C18: stair turret dated 1 5 4 6. Red brick. Roofs pantiled and C20 plain tiles, hipped over south range. Two storeys and attics. L-shaped plan. To the south a projecting 2 1/2 storey gabled stair turret: ground floor sash with glazing bars and skewback arch; first floor and attic windows ovolo moulded, 2-light in attic, cross window at first floor level. Parapet gable with date tablet in apex. To the west of the stair turret, ground and first floor sashes with glazing bars and rendered skewback arches; door with six flush panels, moulded architrave and canopy on console brackets. On the east side a massive external chimney stack with offsets and two linked square shafts. West wall of south range has four blocked window openings with chamfered reveals. On the north wall of the south range, a large external stack with offsets and two linked square shafts. Doorway at northwest corner; one first floor cross casement with leaded glazing to east of stack. North wing of C18 brick, probably a refacing; 2 and 3-light C19 casements with segmental heads to ground floor openings. Off-centre axial stack. North gable parapet with continuous tumbling-in. 2-light attic casement with leaded glazing, ground floor door and casement in reduced openings with segmental heads. East wall of north range has 3-light C19 casements, segmental heads to ground floor openings. Two blocked openings. Doorway with reeded architrave and corner paterae. East wall of south range has sashes with glazing bars; gauged arches over openings. Wooden eaves cornice with triple brackets. Interior much modernised.
