Former manor house. First half of C17 with later additions. Rendered timber
frame with plaintiled (to front) and pantiled roofs. Regular E plan with
northern (service) wing projecting to rear. C20 extension to south side of
rear. 2 storeys with attic. Central porch of full height with original ovolo
and ogee moulded door frames with massive stops. Fenestration mainly C20
with ovolo moulded mullion and transom windows with leaded lights and 2-storey
rectangular bay windows from side wings. Some original diamond mullion windows
to rear. Shaped eaves sprockets. Main stacks axial in side wings with 6
octagonal shafts to north and 2 to south. Original dog leg stair to rear
of south wing with tapered balusters. Close studded frame with arch braced
roof ties and ogee and nicked chamfer stops. Roof with collars, staggered
butt-purlins and intermediate ties. Fine early C18 panelling in south wing
with Ionic pilasters and full Corinthian entablature with pulvinated frieze.
