6/41 Bridge over River Tas 26/11/59 - II

Former road bridge. C15 and later. Ashlar and brick. Originally of 4 bays widened and one bay to south east rebuilt in brick in 1835 (see datestone on parapet). Lengthened by one bay to north west in C20. 3 surviving bays consist of shallow 2-centred arches of 2 chamfered orders. Vaults reinforced by closely-set chamfered transverse ribs. C19 and C20 parapets in brick with stone coping. Also scheduled as an ancient monument.
