8/88 The Lodge and Attached Gates and Gate-Piers

Lodge and gates, of colourwashed brick and flint with black pantile roof. 'L' shaped plan with single storey outshut to west and attached C19 wrought iron gates to north. Extended and modified house, with C17 brick parapet gable to west, with returns to north and south. Gable has moulded brick kneelers and blocked moulded brick window. C18 brick infill to north and south, up to flint work on north, with moulded brick plinth. Shallow gabled brick projection to north with blocked lodge keepers doorway. C18 parapet gable to east with brick kneelers, plinth, platband at attic floor level and brick tumbling in. Late C18 extension to south with plinth and parapet gable with tumbling in. C20 doors and windows. Steeply pitched roof with axial stack to south and C20 gable stack to west. Side gate has solid panelled cast iron piers. Central double gates with hollow piers with scrolled wrought iron decoration and ball finials. Profile of gates and railings sweeps down from piers. Railings have dog rail and spear top finials.
