Lammas Hall, garden walls and service courtyard

Country House, now old peoples' home. Late C17 and later. Red brick, partly
limewashed. Black-glazed and smut pantile roof. 2 storeys and attics.
Principal facade of eight bays with fourth bay from north advanced to form
entrance. Shaped gables. Axial chimney stack in line with entrance. C19
sash windows with architraves; three ground floor casements with segmental
heads, left-hand side of entrance. Moulded brick string course at first floor
level. Four gabled dormers with two light casements; some leaded glazing
survives. Entrance bay with fine early C18 wooden doorcase with rusticated
surround with key block, carved architrave and panelled reveal. C19 brick
porch with moulded brick parapet: early C18 sash window above. Chimney stack
at south gable. C19 wing to north. On the east facade a two storey bay,
semi-circular on plan; sashes with glazing bars and double doors with fanlight
and canopy on carved oak supports. Double-pile C19 and C20 additions at north-
east corner with shaped gable to south Curved brick flank walls on north
and south sides, "with gate piers. Pair of C19 iron gates with overthrow on
south side. Courtyard on north side containing brew house and outbuildings
attached to Hall. Interior: good staircase c.1730 with turned and twisted
balusters, carved tread ends.
