Public house. Datestone EW/l668, with C18 alterations. Squared coursed ironstone
with limestone dressings; main building has Collyweston slate roof and stables
have thatch roof. Originally 3-unit plan. 2 storeys with attic; 4-window range
of leaded cross windows at first floor and C18 sash windows with glazing bars at
ground floor all under stone lintels with keyblocks. Central C20 door has early
C20 moulded stone surround. 3 hipped roof dormers with leaded casements, ashlar
gable parapets and brick stacks at ridge and end. Small early C20 single-unit
extension to right, now forming part of public house. C18 outbuildings attached
to left and link to stables. Stables are U-shape range. Single storey with
haylofts over. Elevation to road has central hayloft door set in eaves dormer
and flanked by 2 buttresses. Elevation to courtyard is similar with stable doors
under wood lintels and hayloft doors over. Rear of public house has gabled
staircase projection. Interior of public house remodelled C20 has remains of
open fireplace to right of entrance.
