Details
WIGGINTON CHESHAM ROAD SP 91 SW (East side) 4/159 Vine Cottage 19.12.85 - II House. Later C17, N part and brick front early C18, S part C19 as village PO. Brick outer walls with timber framed partitions, C18 front of red and blue brick. C19 red brick S part of same height, with plastered S gable. Steep old red tile roofs. A long 2-storeys house, set back from road, facing W. 4 windows long with flush 3-light small-pane casement windows and 2 plank doors with segmental arches and gabled wooden porches. Segmental arches to ground floor windows, timber lintels above. Large axial 2-flues N gable external chimney. Internal later chimney to S part. The interior has exposed timbers and walls of older part have been heightened to 2ft above the tie-beams in the partitions. Shallower N part has axial beam with hollow stops.
