EYNSHAM SP41SW 4/100 City Farmhouse 30/09/86

GV II

Farmhouse. c.1800. Coursed dressed limestone; gabled stone slate roof; end stacks of dressed stone finished in brick. Central-staircase plan. 2 storeys and attic; symmetrical 3-window range. Round arch over C18 six-panelled door, with bracketed semi-circular hood above. Flat stone lintels over late C19 three-light casements; 3 hipped roof dormers with moulded cornices and C19 two-light windows with glazing bars. Mid C19 extension to left and C20 extension to rear. Interior not inspected but noted as being refitted in C19. Facade faces away from foldyard barns and outbuildings (q.v.) to rear. The farm was built when the surrounding open fields were enclosed in about 1800. (Information from V.C.H.).
